Level Intermediate +
The construction of the Moriarty cardigan is a little unusual, the level of difficulty is therefore in between intermediate and advanced. The pattern is technical, but includes detailed instructions, video support for all peculiar techniques and a checklist to help you keep track of your progress. Although it is preferable to be familiar with the basics of circular knitting, this pattern is quite accessible, and fun to knit. You will find a bonus with the instructions for the Moriarty cardigan variation with bobbles along the collar.

Construction
The Moriarty cardigan is worked top down in flat and circular knitting. The top of the body is worked flat, going back and forth until you reach the underarms. The stitches are then divided in three to work separately the bottom of the body flat, and the sleeves in the round with the Magic Loop technique. The cardigan is knitted with 8 mm circular needles, except for the wrist ribbings, which are worked with 5 mm circular or double pointed needles. The front and collar edge is worked at once with the body, then folded in two and sewn at the end.

Techniques Cast on - knit and purl stitches - twisted stitches - increases - decreases - picking up stitches - cables - basic cast off and three needle cast off - seaming => techniques can be found at the end of the pattern, on www.trustthemojo.com and on Youtube.

Shape and sizes
Sizes XS/S (S/M - M/L - L/XL - XL/2XL - 2XL/3XL) are suited for a 85 (90 - 95 - 100 - 110 - 120) cm [33.5 (35.4 - 37.4 - 39.3 - 43.3 - 47.2) inches] bust circumference, with a positive ease of 10 to 15 cm. For a more adjusted fit, choose the smaller version of you usual size, and for a looser fit, choose the bigger version. Make sure to take your measurements in order to choose the size that will fit you best depending on your morphology and the shaping you prefer.
The Moriarty cardigan is short, it goes down to the hips. Feel free to add a few rows before the ribbing if you prefer a longer version.

You will need
• For sizes XS/S (S/M - M/L - L/XL - XL/2XL - 2XL/3XL) you will need approximately 380 (410 - 420 - 455 - 470 - 510) g of Petite Wool from We are knitters 100 g/140 m (153yds), therefore about 4 (5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 6) skeins. Note: if you tend to knit loosely, or if you wish to knit a longer version, you might need an extra skein for sizes XS/S and XL/2XL.
• 8 mm/11 US/0 UK circular needles, cable 100 cm or more (interchangeable needles are better suited for this pattern, they will allow you to change cables as you go, and to easily place the stitches on hold. A 40 cm cable will be ideal for the sleeves)
• 5 mm/8 US/6 UK circular needles (or double pointed needles) for the sleeve ribbing
• 5 mm/8 US/6 UK cable needle (you may also use an interchangeable needle point or a pencil)
• 6 stitch markers
• Extra cables or some waste yarn to put the sleeves on hold
• 1 sewing needle, scissors, pins and a flat surface to block your knitting

Sample
12 stitches x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm with 8 mm/11 US/0 UK needles, in stockinette stitch.
