Construction
The Petra Sweater is worked bottom up in flat knitting, in garter and 1x1 rib band stitch. It’s an easy stitch but it requires to count rows. For both the front and back pieces, you will start by working 8 rows in 1x1 ribs, then work the rest of the body in garter and 1x1 rib band stitch. You will cast off stitches to shape the underarms, and then you will cast off stitches once you reach the neckline. You’ll work each shoulder separately with decreases to shape the neckline. The sleeves are also worked in flat knitting, from bottom to top. You will work the whole sleeve in garter and 1x1 rib band stitch, with increases to shape to sleeves. You will pick up stitches along the neckline to work the collar in garter and 1x1 rib band stitch with 4 mm needles.
