This product includes 2 patterns: the Siena sweater and the Swann sweater. They are very similar patterns, with a few differences in the details. The construction and shape are mostly the same, except that the collar for the Siena sweater is a bit wider on the front (it is closer to the neck for the Swann sweater, with a deeper back). The collar patterns are different, and the bottom finishing are not the same. The Swann sweater has 1x1 rib cuffs and body edges, and the Siena sweater has an I-cord finishing for both. You can chose one or the either, switch some of the details, like the collar depth, the pattern or the body and sleeve finishing to create your very unique version of this light party sweater !

ABOUT THE SIENA SWEATER

Language English
Level Intermediate
The pattern is of an intermediate level due to it’s unusual construction, but it includes step by step video tutorial for each difficult technique, and is therefore accessible to beginners in search of a challenge and who wish to move to the next level.

Construction
The Siena sweater is worked from the top down in triple strand with 7 mm needles, in flat and circular knitting. You will start by knitting the back, starting at the bottom of the back neckline, and then you will shape the shoulders in flat knitting, one after the other. Once you have knitted the front of the shoulders, you will join them and knit the top of the front. Then, you’ll join the front stitches to the stitches you had on hold for the back, and you’ll cast on stitches for each underarm. The bottom of the body is worked in circular knitting, and finished by an I-cord cast off edge. For the collar, you will start by picking up stitches along the neckline, and you will knit the leaf stitch pattern in the round. You will pick up the stitches along the neckline a second time with 6 mm needles in order to knit the I-cord edge. Lastly, you will pick up the stitches along the armholes to knit the sleeves in the round with the Magic Loop technique. The sleeves are shaped with decreases at the end, with an I-cord cast-off with the 6 mm needles.
